The short answerYou're booking a class of car, not a specific model; the car shown is an example from that class.
What it means
"Or similar" means the rental reserves a vehicle class (for example, compact automatic) rather than a specific make and model. The car shown at booking is a typical example. At pickup you get a car from the same class, which can be a different model.
Why it matters
It's one of the most common surprises at the counter. If one feature matters, such as automatic transmission, seats, luggage space or electric, check the class details, not just the photo.
