Late return
Also called late drop-off
The short answerReturning the car after the agreed time; usually charged by the hour or day once the grace period ends.
What it means
A late return is when the car comes back after the time on the rental agreement. Beyond the grace period, the rental company usually charges extra hours or a full extra day, sometimes at a higher rate than the booked one. Cover bought for the rental may need to be extended too.
Why it matters
If you know you'll be late, extending the rental before the return time is usually cheaper and keeps you covered.
