Unlimited mileage
Also called unlimited kilometers, unlimited km, free mileage
The short answerNo limit on how far you drive and no per-mile or per-kilometer charge.
What it means
Unlimited mileage means the rental price covers any distance you drive: there's no daily allowance and no charge per mile or kilometer. It's standard on many leisure rentals, but not on all of them; some one-ways, specialty vehicles and local rates come with a cap.
Why it matters
On a road trip, a mileage cap can cost more than the rental itself. Check for it before comparing prices, especially for long drives and one-ways.
Wording by region
Outside the US it's usually written as "unlimited kilometers." Restrictions on where you can drive (territories, unsealed roads) still apply.
Related terms
- Mileage capA limit on the distance included in the price; each mile or kilometer over it is charged at a set rate.
