Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)
Also called DCC, pay in your home currency
The short answerAn offer at payment to be charged in your home currency instead of the local one, at an exchange rate set by the merchant's provider.
What it means
Dynamic Currency Conversion is when a card machine or payment page offers to charge you in your own currency rather than the local one. If you accept, the conversion happens at the merchant's side at a rate their provider sets, which often includes a markup. If you decline, your card issuer converts the amount instead.
Why it matters
It's a choice, and it's yours to make. Compare the offered rate with your card's own rate, and check what your card charges for foreign transactions.
